The latest version of WordPress was released on December 6th as WordPress 5.0. This is the biggest ever update to the WordPress.
Here are the things to remember before updating to the Newer version of the WordPress.
Most Important, Take A Full Backup Of Your Website.
By creating the full backup of your site you can easily restore your site in case some problem occur after updating your WordPress to the newer version.
Backups can be easily created by going to cPanel > Backups > Download A Full Website Backup
Once the Backup is generated successfully you can download the Backup file on your computer.
You can also use WordPress Plugins to create Backups.
Turn off caching plugins.
If you have installed caching plugins on your site you are advised to turn off these plugins before updating to latest version of WordPress.
Update your themes and plugins.
Before updating check if there are new updates available for the themes and plugins you have installed. If there is an update available update that first then the WordPress.
Check Your Plugins compatibility with WordPress 5.0
To check your plugins for compatibility, navigate to the Plugins > Installed Plugins and click View Details:
Now Update the WordPress
Turn on caching plugins.
As you have previously turned off the caching and caching plugins now as you have completed the update so you can turn them on now.
